GALLERY: Adopt a furry friend this festive season

Once this is done the animal can be collected. The entire process can take up to two weeks.

Alberton SPCA urges the community to adopt from its many other different breeds of furry friends this festive season. For someone who wishes to visit the SPCA, here is what to expect: A dog costs R850 regardless of size, while a cat costs R550.

Procedure

The SPCA requires proof of residence and a copy of an identification document matching proof of residence. A home check is done to ensure the property is suitable for the animal chosen to be adopted. If the adoptee stays outside of the Alberton area, the documentation is sent through to the nearest SPCA in their area. Once the pre-home check has been passed, the dog or cat of choice will be sterilised, micro-chipped and vaccinated.

Once this is done the animal can be collected. The entire process can take up to two weeks.
