What more can be done?

This broke my heart as fireworks cause a lot of pet deaths yearly.

So I read the following post from Charnell Ruth on social media after New Year’s Day:

“To all of you who used fireworks last night, I hope you are proud of your destruction and mayhem.

“I should only be writing to wish you the best for the New Year. I must also ask what would be the most effective way to publicise the death of a dog in what appears to have been a fireworks-related incident.

“Folk found a dog on Acutts Drive just after midnight, it had collapsed and was very hot. It must have run for miles and died of lactic acidosis and heat shock. An awful experience for the poor dog.

“This beautiful stunning dog is now dead! Her name was Blue.”

This broke my heart as fireworks cause a lot of pet deaths yearly.

On social media, between all the happy New Year’s wishes, you also scroll through photos and posts of missing pets or pets that tried to escape but got injured in the process.

What more can be done?

Every year, it is the same old story and it is as if some people simply don’t care.

I really do feel sorry, not only for the pets, but for the pet owners as well.
