Up-and-coming female golfers get proper guidance
Investec has become the cornerstone for professional and aspiring women professional golfers.
The new generation of women golfers are already stepping into the limelight, even if it is at the age of 15 or 11.
Investec showcased some of the youngsters who are linked with the top women players in the country on March 3 at the Glendower Golf Club who will walk in the footsteps of these great players. Investec are also the title sponsor of the Investec South African Women’s Open, and apart from supporting young women golfers, they have over the years backed and sponsored many players in order for them to evolve this sporting code.
Nicole Garcia, one of the country’s top players, has taken Phenyo Sebata under her wing to develop and point out some of the significant circumstances of playing golf to her. Just coming back after a long lay-off from playing, Garcia can’t wait to walk the greens of the golf courses, both in South African and in Europe.
“I went for a hip operation and had to carefully nurture it over the past two years, but I am are very excited to be back playing. It also emerged that I have picked up some back problems and had to wait a little longer for it to totally recover,” said Garcia.
“In the meantime, it was great to show Phenyo how to improve and enjoy golf.”
Another great woman golfer from the country who will be nurturing the skills of Noluthando Mdanda is Stacy Bregman.
“I believe youngsters need to see how professionals go about. And learn from them.”
Also having her European card and enjoys returning to her native land to play golf is Kaylee Webster, who has had the opportunity to tone Lejan Lewthwaite’s ability on the golf course to become a professional.
Investec has become the cornerstone for this professional and many aspiring professional women golfers to step into the light of the women who’ve gone before them and give many South African’s hope of a successful new generation of golfers.
