Bigger than expected prize money in Tsogo Sun’s Roulette Masters

It now stands at over R2.2 million, up from R1.7 million at the start of the tournament in January, with the first prize up to a guranteed R1.4 million from R1 million.

GOLD REEF CITY – The total prize money for Tsogo Sun’s group-wide ‘first in South Africa’ Roulette Masters Tournament has swelled by a massive R500 000 as buy-ins have exceeded expectations.

It now stands at over R2.2 million, up from R1.7 million at the start of the tournament in January, with the first prize up to a guranteed R1.4 million from R1 million.

“The buy-ins are going towards the prize money, and not to the house, which means that a R100 entry could give one entrant a return of 14 000 to 1, as well as excellent odds for winners of the remaining prize money,” explains Steve Hight, Director of Gaming of Tsogo Sun.

Roulette heats are playing out at 13 Tsogo Sun casinos for close on nine weeks from January 13 to March 14, and will culminate in the grand finals on March 29 at Gold Reef City. Once finals have been held in the respective casinos, 36 grand finalists from the various casinos will gather at Gold Reef City and draw table and playing positions. A semi-final round will determine the seven top earning players who will play off in the finals, which constitutes seven spins. The overall winner is the player with the highest total value in chips at the end of the seven spins.

“The Roulette Masters is about great entertainment and providing a memorable experience for our gamers – and we’re delighted at the enthusiastic response we have had from all the participants in this big time tournament. All buy-ins go back as prize money, therefore, there is potential for the prize money to continue climbing, so watch this space” says Hight.
