Meet the voters and hear what they had to say

The RECORD asked a few people in Alberton to share how they experienced voting on Wednesday. We also wanted to know what their motivations where for voting and choosing the political party they voted for.

Leancre Holthausen and Bev Potgieter had a wonderful experience because everything went by quickly they also enjoyed a pancake and a cold drink after they voted.

Nomsa Mayaba was excited as a first time voter. It was an enjoyable experience because the queues were short. She voted for better housing, schools and jobs. She believes that her vote will make a difference.

Lindiwe Tshabalala’s experience was pleasant because she didn’t have to wait in a long queue. She voted because she believes that one day South Africa will become a better place to live in.

Hubre Kotze voted later the afternoon. She felt that everything ran smoothly and the process was effective. She also mentioned that the staff were very friendly even though it was so late. She voted for more job opportunities and a better economic outlook for South Africa.

Phelisa Nhuapo was very excited as this was her first time to vote. She said it went quickly. She voted against corruption. She believes that the party she voted for has a leader that will lead our country in the right way.

Lucy Twala had a pleasant voting experience. She voted for the party that will bring change for South Africa.

David Ndumo voted later in the day and said that everything went well. His party of choice promised beter living conditions.

Phindile Malefetse said she received good service when she voted. She voted for more jobs, internships and housing.

Violet Buys was excited to vote and found it an enjoyable experience. She voted for her political party of choice because she is not judgemental and believes in the party that she voted for.

Cristina Mabila had a poor voting experience, the scanners where not available early in the morning when she went to vote. Later the day when she tried again, the scanners’ batteries were flat. She had to go to another voting station and then only was able to vote. She voted for change, the creation of jobs for youth as well as housing and providing for the poor.

Nkosi Maduna said it was nice to vote. He voted for better grants, water supply and electricity.

Mapule Mohale did not vote this year, she said she did not take voting seriously enough in the past but is looking forward to register to vote in the next election.

Frith Thirtle’s voting experience was pleasant. The whole process took about two hours for her, but she noticed that there was a lack of tables for surnames A-S. She voted because she wants more say for white South Africans.

Pulane Moutloatsi had a great experience. This was her second time to vote, she voted for the improvement of service delivery.

Sifiso Kunene said that his voting experience was cool. He voted very early and was only the fourth person at the voting station. He voted for better jobs, general improvement, with South Africa’s youth in mind. He also voted against corruption.
