The ante has been raised as the grade 3 August Stakes has welcomed an increase in the prize pot to a super R250 000. For the first time, both the August Stakes and the Sandy Beach will be run as handicaps with the 2014 August Stakes title winner being guaranteed a run in this year’s R1 million Emerald Cup at the end of September.
