Alberton Old Age Home celebrated with a bazaar its 40 year birthday on Saturday, February 28. The fete was supported by surrounding churches and organisations.
BAZAAR: The Alberton Old Age Home celebrates their 40th birthday.
VOTE OF THANKS: Pastor Bella de Wet delivered a speech thanking all those involved and a prayer to bless the proceedings.
PANCAKE STAND: Irene Hattingh flipped the pancakes that were donated from Brackenhurst Church.
STALL: Ilva Strauss makes beaded jewellery and presented a stand at the flea market.
BOEREWORS: Alberton South Church donated the sausage rolls for the fete. Koos van der Merwe, Dries Appelgryn, Hendrik Barnard and Piet Klit manned the braai area.
CURRY AND RICE: Brackendal Church gave the old age home curry and rice. Karen Muller, Rina Mostert, Rita Smith, and Sandra Badenhorst managed the stand.
CATERERS: Reef catering donated food and staff support. Andiswa Tshona, Elize Hill, Babalwa Mlenze and Tulisile Xlaba were there to cook up a storm for the seniors.
MUSIC: Audio support and music was provided by Mr and Mrs Louw.
SECURITY: Protective Force provided free security for visitors. Fredwell Blankulu and Gerrit van Zyl with other security officers made the residents’ safety their priority.
DESSERT: Raceview Dutch Reform Church provided the pudding. Mrs G de Beer, Mrs McGeer, Mrs Attie Pretorius, Mrs Hanlie Roets, Mrs Fransi Oostenbrink and Mrs Hester Joebert all helped run the stand.
ENTERTAINMENT: Alta and Trudie coordinated the raffle on behalf of the residents. Jeannette Grop is a resident of the Alberton Old Age Home.
The residents and visitors enjoyed music, a food market and jumble sale from 08:00 to 13:00 in the afternoon.
