Reading’s new champ

A staggering 68 on the Saturday proved to be good enough for Lingum Pillay (31) to be crowned champion at the recently held Golf Club Championships at Reading Country Club.

ALBERTON – Though he shot a 79 on Sunday, Lingum, playing off a three handicap, managed to win by two shots overall.

His 68, he says, is his best round ever. “I practised hard on my short game and it definitely paid off.” Lingum, married and father of a three-year-old boy, is a sales executive, but if it is in God’s plan, he says, he would love to play the game full-time.
