Leave our heritage alone

So called renovations to the Old Alberton Town Hall for temporary metro offices once again proves to me that there is no regard for anything precious in this country anymore.

What are the powers thinking? How can you alter and break a place like that? Not only is it a landmark of our town, but it is our heritage – again no thinking, and that which should be held dear and protected is going down the drain.

Following procedure? This is utter bull to say the least! The only procedure they are following are procedures which suits them best. And for whatever reason would you want to damage a heritage site as a temporary solution to accommodate staff, while your big offices in Germiston are being renovated – once again? Surely the metro could have rented proper office space somewhere else?

There are too many unanswered questions! Metro should be held accountable for this poor decision, which shows lack of insight, lack of knowledge and poor judgement.

I hope our town will pull together and save what is left of our Old Town Hall, and although I don’t belief it is possible, I do hope that the EMM will come to their senses!

Count me in for a march against the EMM.

Outraged resident.
