Alberton Boulevard tenants call for change

The Alberton Boulevard tenants are calling for the boulevard area to be cleaned up, painted and revamped. They are concerned about safety and hawkers filling the pavements. As the face of Alberton, improvement will mean better business in an already strained economy.

Tenants say that hawkers start small but soon expand to the point of blocking large parts of the pavement.

Mr Vali who has been working at Cellular and Traders for three years, covered this hole himself to prevent injury.

This hole is about 2 meters deep and a hazard for pedestrians.

Grass is left growing on the pavements.

Litter is left on the pavements and fixtures are in need of a good clean and some paint.

Elmarie has seen a couple of people being harassed at the ATM’s across the road and has been a victim herself.

The pavement is dangerously uneven almost everywhere in the boulevard.
