Contractors are a nightmare

An unpleasant experience with contractors brought the following questions to my mind:

* Do they make sure of the correct requirements needed for the job, thus alleviating time wasted by frequently visiting the hardware store?

* Do they check the power points on the property in order to bring the correct length of electric cable?

* Do they make it clear on the quote whether VAT is or is not included? Or do they leave that for the customer to figure out?

* Why do they give a quote per telephone?

* Do they specify that painting means only priming?

* Do they not see that by washing marks on the wall will result in leaving a further eyesore, resulting in having to wash down the entire room?

* Why, when awarded the job, confirm the time of arrival but arrive two hours later or not at all and let you know late afternoon that because of a breakdown/load shedding, they will only be able to come the next day?

So what! The customer can wait and be readily available to suit them irrespective of any prior appointments that were scheduled for that day.

A genuine contractor should invest in a generator to alleviate disruption by load shedding and have well maintained vehicle. Not so?

By accepting a complete written quote and mutual agreement thereof, it should be realised that the customer places his prized asset in the hands of the contractor and expects a prized job in return.

Just asking, Alberton.
