Danone Nations Cup: World finals to be held in Morocco

Bree Primary will represent South Africa in the Danone Nations Cup.

JOHANNESBURG’s Bree Primary School, representing Gauteng, are the 2015 Danone Nation Cup champions. They beat the Free State champions, Nelson Mandela Primary School, 2-0 in the final of the national play-offs, on Saturday, June 27.

It is the third time that the school from Johannesburg will be representing South Africa at the Danone Nations Cup.

“We are back where we belong,” said an excited coach, Bafana Dlamini. In 2009, the school took the national crown and went all the way, winning the Danone Nations Cup world title.

Dlamini said that the national finals were very tough and competitive, but the team had home ground advantage and that made them even more determined.

“It’s school holidays now, so the players will have a bit of a rest. They can relax and enjoy telling everyone that they are going to Morocco,” said the coach.

“I have been coaching these boys for five years now, I have been preparing them for this and they have proved that they are ready. There is a lot of hard work ahead for us, but we are up for it,” Dlamini concluded.
