Alberton Football Club introduces – Metro Stars

Development at the club makes a difference.

THE need for junior football development has been growing in demand over the recent years, but, unfortunately, amateur club coaches have limited time with players on a weekly basis.

Alberton Football Club has found that an extra one to two specialised training sessions a week can drastically change the ball game within the development phases of junior footballers.

Metro Stars is a community driven football development programme designed to inspire, uplift and showcase players, teams and initiatives in and around the Johannesburg region.

The Metro Stars programme concentrates on speed, agility, core strength, tactical and special awareness and technical drills.

Metro Stars ambassadors and coaches include a host of current and former Premier Soccer League (PSL) and international players, including Stanton Fredericks, Bradley Carnell, Thabang Stemmer, Bradley Phillips and Mark Haskins.

The Metro Stars selected a representative soccer team to play at the VW tournament at Wits University in December 2015, which included Alberton FC players.

The six u.13 Super League players selected for the side are Tristan Smith, Storm Jonas, Kayden Booysen, Dylan Diab, Dante Reeby and Jared Nichols.

The next junior World Masters will take place from May 13 to 16, in Paris, France.

With their vast experience in the game spanning 20 years, as well as a sound overseas network, they will provide an excellent coaching platform at Alberton FC.
