Child (2) killed by taxi

Mother sustained moderate injuries.

YOUTH DAY was not a celebration for everyone, especially for the mother of a two-year-old child who died after being hit by a taxi on June, 16.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning. The mother was allegedly carrying the child on her back when the taxi hit them on Olywenhout Street in Bosmot, Alberton.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene they found the mother and the child lying in the road. After assessment it was found that the child had sustained fatal injuries and was sadly declared dead on scene.

The mother sustained moderate injuries and was treated and transported by provincial services to Helen Joseph Hospital for further treatment. The taxi driver did not sustain any injuries.

The cause of the incident remains unknown, local authorities were on scene for further investigation.
