Man’s body found in Vaal River

ER24 paramedics, along with Search and Rescue, responded to the scene after receiving reports of an apparent drowning in the area on June 19.

A body of a man, believed to be in his 30s, was found on June 20, in the Vaal River, near the Ascot-on-Vaal bridge.

ER24 paramedics, along with Search and Rescue, responded to the scene after receiving reports of an apparent drowning in the area on June 19.

Upon ER24’s arrival, rescue teams and paramedics began searching the area and banks of the river.

Unfortunately, after some time, the search was called off due to poor lighting conditions.

Emergency personal returned to the scene early the following morning, June 20, and continued the search. After several hours, the body of the man was found. According to Russel Mering, ER24 spokesperson, the man showed no signs of life and was declared dead on scene.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
