AN eight-year-old boy died after he was hit by a truck on the R55 in Olifantsfontein on Thursday, June 30. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the boy lying on the road with the truck several metres away from him. An Orange Fox medic was attending to the boy. Upon assessment of the patient, ER24 paramedics found that the child had sustained multiple injuries. “His condition deteriorated and paramedics initiated CPR. Sadly, the child died despite all efforts to save him,” said Chitra Botha, ER24 spokesperson.
No one in the truck was injured.
The exact cause of the incident is unknown. Authorities were on the scene to conduct further investigations.
