Taxi rear-ends truck

Seventeen people have been left injured after an accident that occurred on Kliprivier Drive earlier.

SEVENTEEN people have been left injured after an accident that occurred on Kliprivier Drive earlier.

On the morning of Wednesday, July 27, a taxi rear-ended a truck on Kliprivier Drive in Alberton.

“ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found both the taxi and the heavy truck in the right lane of the road.

“Most of the occupants from the taxi were found seated in the vehicle and on the pavement”, said Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson.

According to Meiring, all 17 people had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate, but no serious or fatal injuries were reported.

Paramedics treated the patients and transported them to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Traffic was heavily affected due to the collision.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
