NATIONAL NEWS: Pregnant mother injured

The exact cause of the incident is unknown.

A woman, believed to be seven months pregnant, was critically injured in a collision between two vehicles on the N12, in Fochville, on September 28.

ER24 paramedics, as well as other services attended to the incident.

Upon arrival, paramedics found the woman, who was had been ejected, lying several metres from the vehicle in which she was travelling.

Upon assessment it was found that she had sustained multiple injuries and was in a critical condition. Upon further assessment, it was found that her baby appeared to be fine at the time.

She was treated and airlifted to hospital for further medical care.

Two other women from the same vehicle were assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. They were transported to hospital by ambulance.

The drivers of both vehicles were uninjured.

Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
