Raffle winner overjoyed
After Sonja had given the basket with the raffle tickets in, a good shake, regular customer Christine Thomas also gave the tickets a toss and pulled out the winning ticket, belonging to Shawn Odendaal.
A RAFFLE held in aid of St Mary’s Children’s Home was won by Shawn Odendaal, at the draw held at Turn ‘n Tender Steakhouse Restaurant, Comaro View Shopping Centre, Bassonia, on Friday, September 30.
At the draw, Sonja Harmse (director of the home) asked Nick Leslie from Turn ‘n Tender to choose a customer to pick the winning ticket out of the basket.
After Sonja had given the basket with the raffle tickets in, a good shake, regular customer Christine Thomas also gave the tickets a toss and pulled out the winning ticket, belonging to Shawn Odendaal.
Chantel Derman from Paul James Hairdressing, who was also at the draw, gave Shawn a call and she said he was thrilled to have won the hamper.
“Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, and I’m pleased to say we made our goal,” said Sonja. “Special thanks to Paul Fox for allowing us to sell the raffle tickets in all of his 12 salons, to Dimitri Papadakis for having the hamper in his restaurant and for hosting the draw, to Golconda Manufacturing Jewellers for the super gift voucher, and to our ‘angel’ who came up with the idea!”
Sonja also gave a huge thanks to Crystal Osborne who coordinated the raffle. “Crystal is now our fund-raising secretary and I’m delighted to have her on board. She was a previous child of St Mary’s and is now a successful woman, as well as a wife and mother to three darling children of her own,” Sonja added.
