This is a simple misunderstanding
I find this out of hand and truly hope that you are able to put a stop to this, as he will not be registered with the water board as he is making use of the fire hose, which is an illegal act.
I would like to shine a light on illegal and very wasteful water usage by an Engen petrol station.
I drove past the Engen on the corner of Hennie Alberts and Rae Frankel streets, next to the McDonald’s, on Sunday, October 16, and saw how the paving of the station was being sprayed down and wasting massive amounts of water, and have witnessed this several times before, and have seen how streams of water run down the street, so much water is being wasted.
When I approached the staff, advising them that we have a water crisis, they said to me they know, but their manager says they have to clean like this every Sunday, which is the truth as I have seen this on several occasions.
I then went into the shop and asked for the manager, who then advised me that he needs to clean the garage. I said to him we are in a crisis but he feels the need to clean with the water wastage that I had witnessed.
I find this out of hand and truly hope that you are able to put a stop to this, as he will not be registered with the water board as he is making use of the firehose, which is an illegal act.

RECORD contacted the management of said petrol station and were informed that they will get someone to get in touch with us.
We received a call from Dips Naik, owner of the station, who says that it was an honest mistake that has now been rectified. “We’ve been here for 20 years and certain things have become habit, like cleaning the station on Sunday mornings. It was never an intentional thing to waste water, simply a misunderstanding,” says Naik.
