Natalie Abrahams, the woman who brought out her first book in Eden Park, has been nominated for two Esther Awards, at the Esther Woman in the Kingdom Nomination Party.
Natalie is a pastor, recovery/life coach and the author of “Get Up & Go On”.
She told the RECORD that she was astonished about being nominated for two awards.
“I did not expect this at all,” she said.
”I mean, my goal is to help others and to make a difference.”
Natalie explained that she also wants to create awareness amongst people in other communities, and motivate them to follow their dreams.
“People who have talent need to be recognised. If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough,” she said.
A breakfast will be held on December 3, in Alberton, where Natalie will be sharing her experience, ideas, struggles and how she got where she is.
She launched her first book on December 7, 2014, in the woodwork class at Eden Park High School.
Speaking to Natalie, it becomes clear that she holds her community close to her heart and that she is actively involved in Eden Park.
She and husband Ron run different programmes through their church, aimed at uplifting the community – young and old, singles and those in relationships, and married couples. “It started when Ron and I were ordained as pastors,” Natalie said.
”He always had a passion for the youth, and my passion lies with women and couples. We have always wanted to give back and so our great journey started.”
According to her, she will bring out her second book in April, 2017.
“I am so excited about this,” she said.
Their outreach gave birth to Virtuous WoMan Connect, which includes seminars and workshops for women and couples, and this lead to Natalie writing a 12-week self-esteem programme.
Further, the couple is involved in the newly established Community Watch Forum, in Eden Park, and they are also the visionaries of New Life Recovery Centre, a support group for recovering addicts and their families.
On top of this, Natalie still sees patients and families affected by cancer, and Ronnie runs events for children at the church, especially during the festive season.
They both serve on the Eden Park Church Forum, and then Natalie also had to find the time for several interviews on Good Morning Africa channel 154.
To support her nominations to win the awards, people must vote for her in the two different categories:
1. Esther the writer
2. Esther the support
To vote, SMS Esther the writer Natalie Abrahams, and, in another SMS, Esther the Supporter Natalie Abrahams, to 33000. Each SMS costs R1.50.
People can also follow her on social media and visit her web page ”You Matter”.
More about the Esther Woman in the Kingdom Awards:
Christian women have played a significant role in the well-being of the Africa nation as a whole and, of course, more women need to be inspired by the women who have gone ahead in challenging the status quo, addressing a social ill or simply shining brightly in the corner they occupy.
No matter how big or small, known or unknown, it is undeniable that these women, who are walking with Christ and bringing about change, are worthy of being honoured for their dedication to humanity.
The Esther Woman in the Kingdom Awards came about as an instruction and inspiration as per the book of Esther 6:3, where King Xerxes acknowledged the good work done by Mordecai in serving the King, and also realising that nothing was ever done to honour him in this regards.
These awards will be the first and the only ones in Africa specifically honouring Christian women in the different spaces they occupy.
Through these awards, the organisers hope to encourage women in the kingdom to continue the good work they do, to inspire others to get involved and to bring to attention the great achievements of these phenomenal women.
