The holiday plan for your pets?

Look after your pets.

THE Christmas holidays will soon be upon us and if youre going away, what arrangements have you made for your pets?

You cant leave dogs and cats without care and it’s important to make suitable arrangements in advance, as kennel spaces are booked up quickly. If you’re planning to go away, you need to start making suitable plans for the care of your pets now.

If you wish to board your pet, you must ensure their vaccinations are up to date; as proof will be required by the boarding kennel/cattery in question.

If you decide to leave your pets at home, then you must either get a house sitter to stay in your home and care for your pets, or arrange for someone reliable to feed and check on them daily.

It’s also very important you advise your pet sitter of your local vet and their number, plus advising them what to do, should your dogs inadvertently escape your property.

Should that happen, you need to tell your pet sitter that having checked the local area, they should report the missing dogs to the SPCA immediately. Ensure you give them the SPCA number 011 907 1568 and address: Lincoln Road, General Alberts Park in order for them to check to see if your dogs are there.

Too many people don’t bother or worry about their pets over the festive season; and the SPCA ends up with numerous strays, who could be returned home sooner.

Please be a responsible pet owner. Your pets give you unconditional love 365 days a year.
