Jaws of life used to rescue accident victim

The woman was found to have sustained only minor injuries.

A MAN, believed to be in his 30’s, was left critically injured on January 27 after his vehicle crashed into a streetlight pole on Langehoven Road, in Vanderbijlpark.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, they found that part of the streetlight pole had broken off, pierced the window and pinned the male driver inside the vehicle. The female passenger was outside of the car and walking around.

Rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life to free the man from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition. Paramedics treated the patients and provided the man with advanced life support interventions.

Both patients were later transported to Sebokeng Hospital for further treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
