Accident waiting to happen
Children as young as six years sit on the edge of the busy street with no supervision.
AN ACCIDENT is waiting to happen to one of the learners who frequently cross the road to get to a tuck shop in Ferrari Street, in front of the Eden Park Police Station.
Learners are supposed to be dropped and picked up at the school gates. This practice was followed for years but, with the increase of vehicles, some drivers decided to let the learners wait at a very dangerous spot which carries most of the traffic in the area, including a heavy flow of taxis.
Children as young as six years sit on the edge of the busy street unsupervised; and, with a tuck shop and ice cream stand across the road, these young children are often tempted to run across the street to buy their sweets, with some misjudging the speed vehicles are travelling at.
Residents urge parents to be aware, to warn their children about the dangers of running across a busy road and to make sure their children are picked up at the school.
