Alrode factory up in flames

ALRODE – A black cloud of smoke over Alberton was caused by a huge fire at Gloss Recycling company, Alrode.

Ekurhuleni Emergency Services Spokesperson, William Ntladi said, “The cause of the fire is still not established. There has been no injuries and everyone had been evacuated accordingly.

“The attack-line is to protect the un-burnt structure before going inside. The challenge that had risen was the wind which carried the smoke across the town. The rubber had been burning rubber-crush (The bigger pieces of rubber).”

This is the seventh time in the last five years that this has happened, said Mrs Theron. The Erkurhuleni Emergeny Services have made inroads and continue to fight the fire until all has calmed down.
