Alberton Child Welfare holds AGM

Workers from the Department of Social Development have been on strike for several weeks, which means that no children could be removed from unsafe or abusive homes or environments.

ALBERTON Child Welfare held its annual general meeting on Friday, March 24, where role players discussed the way forward with regards to the work they do for the benefit of the children.

One point made was that non-profit organisations (NPOs) should start focusing more on preventative measures, instead of the current reactionary approach, in the hopes that children can be “rescued” before their situations become too dire.

Another point of concern was that workers from the Department of Social Development have been on strike for several weeks. This means no children could be removed from unsafe or abusive homes or environments.
