ALBERTON SPCA is asking residents to support their second-hand shop. The shop is quite the treasure trove, selling all sorts of goods, from clothes to books to dog beds.
“We are always in need of donations and can collect large amounts if necessary. In addition, we hold a weekly market selling good quality clothing at reasonable prices. Please do a good sort-out and donate your unwanted items to us for re-sale. The proceeds from the shop go towards helping us provide for the animals in our care,” said Vanja Ingold, a member of the SPCA.
The SPCA receives no government funding and is entirely reliant on the generosity of the local community. Without regular donations, the SPCA cannot continue its work of caring for the animals under its protection.
According to Ingold, the situation is worsening, as more and more people are surrendering their animals to the SPCA.
“Remember to adopt, don’t shop,” she said.
If you can donate in any way, please contact Alberton SPCA on 011 907 1568 or drop goods off at its offices in Lincoln Road, General Alberts Park.
Alternatively, make use of its SMS lines to donate easily: SMS ‘Puppy’ to 39969; an SMS costs R15. Or SMS ‘Kitten’ to 38844; an SMS costs R10.
