IT IS CHILL TIME: Sylvia Drame, an employee at the Paris Ellesses clothing store, said: “I’m not a fan of winter, but winter is very good for business. People buy lots more clothes. The one thing I enjoy about winter is the hot coffee and warm blankets and chilling in front of the TV.”
THIS week the RECORD paid a visit to the Lemon Tree Shopping Centre to hear what residents have to say about winter-time.
Apart from finding that most people are not really enjoying the cold weather, it would seem that Albertonians share a deep love for coffee.
ANOTHER ONE FOR COFFEE: Mlungisi Langa, a Thokoza resident who happened to visit the shopping centre, said: “I’m from Richards Bay, where it’s warmer, so I’m suffering in this cold weather. I hate it when it rains – it makes the cold so much worse. To warm up, I like drinking coffee and staying indoors.”WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE: Nick Demetriou (left), a Tobacco Land employee, said: “I have no issue with winter – it is necessary. But I do enjoy warm weather more. Alex Tamas (right), also a Tobacco Land employee, said: “I love winter. I love the coffee and cosiness when I’m at home. It’s cuddle weather, so what’s not to love?”SWEET ON COFFEE: Vinolia Moakatla, who tends the Delhi Delicious food stall, said: “I don’t like the cold at all. However, I do enjoy being indoors and drinking sweet coffee. Then, on the weekends, there’s nothing better than a tot of whiskey or sherry to warm me up.”
