Taps run dry for Eden Park residents on June 16
Water came back on the afternoon of June 16.
RESIDENTS of Eden Park and Phola Park ran around on June 16 looking for water. On Thursday, June 15 in the afternoon, water suddenly stopped running out of all the taps around Eden Park.
Residents expected water to return later that evening or early the next morning, but to their amazement, no water came through.
Early on June 16 residents grabbed as many buckets as they could find and went looking for water. With some luck, someone discovered a truck with a full water tank parked at the reservoir and this attracted residents like nails to a magnet.
A long queue of people were already formed at the truck, waiting to fill their buckets with water. In desperation some residents found a way to open water hydrants in the streets to obtain water.
Luckily water flow was restored at 13:00 that afternoon.
