
IN this time when people, in general, are uncertain about the safety of themselves and their families and crime is an ever increasing problem, it is of utmost importance that residents participate in the crime summit of Ekurhuleni Ward 37 on July 29 from 8am to 2pm at the council chambers in Alwyn Taljaard Street.
The participants of this crime summit will include representatives from:
SAPS Alberton and Germiston, EMPD, CPF Alberton and Germiston, Governmental Organizations, Private Security Companies, Ward 37 Community members, Business Owners, Religious Bodies, Schools and Community Organisations.
Programme for the day:
- 8am – 9am (Arrivals and registration).
- 9am – 9.25am (Introduction, welcome and purpose of the summit).
- 9.25am – 10am (Key note address: Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni and other role players).
- 10am – 10.15am (Break).
- 10.15am – 1.15pm, (Commissions: causes of crime in Ward 37 and surrounding areas, employment projects to reduce and curb crime, role of SAPS and EMPD in preventing, combatting and investigating crime, role of the CPF in Ward 37 and surrounding areas, role of business in crime prevention, specific crimes: house break-ins and related crimes, human trafficking and related crimes, drugs and prostitution and abuses of women, illegal immigrants and related crimes, training of community members in crime fighting strategy and tactics).
- 1.15pm – 2pm (Feedback from commissions).
