Decades of cards to give away
Elderly Glenvista resident wants to give away over 230 cards that she collected over the years to be used for therapy or arts and crafts etc.
GLORIA Harbottle (82) had tears in her eyes when she sorted through her collection of over 230 cards that she has accumulated throughout her life.
Living in Glenvista for about 26 years now, and Mondeor prior to that, Gloria spoke to the RECORD saying she has lived in the South since she was 16, and said that when she passes on she does not want her two children to have to sort out all her stuff.
The range of cards reflects the love that people have shown Gloria for every occasion including Mother’s Day, Christmas, and every birthday in her life with the big milestones being her 60th, 70th and 80th birthdays.
“I even found a birthday card that my mother had given to me on my 50th birthday – that really touched me. I thought it would be a better option to re-use the cards for Therapeutic purposes or arts and crafts because they are really beautiful cards with colourful pictures,” said Gloria.
Gloria spoke of how she was going to throw all her cards away but then rather chose to donate them so that they could be re-used. If you know of an organisation or school that deals with children living with disabilities and may want these cards, then feel free to contact Gloria on 073 170 2070.
