IN 2014 a group of women came together and formed an organisation to care and feed orphans and senior citizens in their area – they called themselves Redeemed Loved and Honoured Organisation.
Then in 2016, the RECORD published the story of a birthday party of Albert Lesibahowe who had turned 100. Under the leadership of their chair lady, Zodwa Khumalo, the organisation had organised and paid from their pockets for the party.
Virginia Mncube, a member of the group said: “We have cooked sumptuous food for our guests who are mainly pensioners and orphans but also including members of the community who want to join as we celebrate Mandela Day this year.”
Mncube told the RECORD that to make the day even better, they had organised with an optometrist to test the pensioner’s eyes and to supply them with spectacles.
“This is wonderful and we are enjoying the day. God must bless these women,” said one pensioner enjoying his delicious meal.
“We are only seven ladies and everything we do is from our own pockets. We pray and wish we could get any sponsorship or donations to help us. For the last two years, since our establishment, the going has been tough,” said Virgina.
Zodwa can be contacted on 076 039 3671 should you be able to assist.
