Follow up on Luke’s road to recovery
Luke has had to have several skin grafts and other operations to repair some of the serious damage, but more operations and rehabilitation is necessary
THE boy who was recently attacked by a large group of Pitbulls is recovering but there is still a long road ahead.
Luke Greybe (13) was attacked by 10 Pitbulls on September 8 when he was visiting his uncle and his uncle’s girlfriend in Walkerville.

Luke suffered many injuries including a shattered arm and many deep puncture wounds and chunks of flesh torn off his body.
“I would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support they have shown. It really means a lot to us,” said Althea Greybe, Luke’s mom.

“People have helped so much but the medical bills are still piling up and there are talks of transferring Luke to a public hospital, so we are very stressed at the moment,” she added.
Luke had several skin grafts and other operations to repair some of the serious damage but more operations and rehabilitation is necessary.
RECORD has contacted the uncle and his girlfriend for comment about the incident and claims of previous incidents where their domestic worker was allegedly attacked, as well as a neighbour’s buck being killed by the dogs, but they have not responded to our requests.
“This whole story has put a strain on our relationship with our family but we feel like they seem to be more worried about their dogs than their own flesh and blood. I also find it worrying that people on social media seem to also stick up for the dogs but does someone have to die before something is done? We just want to do what is right and fair by Luke and would like people to focus on our boy who was viciously attacked and whose life will never be the same again,” said Althea.
If anyone would like to help Luke get the care he needs, donations can be made to the Netcare Union Hospital:
