Community gives support group wings

"We do need funds to sustain the group and that is why we took it upon ourselves to try and sell food."

EVERY group, team or institution needs cash in order to run smoothly and so, on September 30, Eden Eagles Cancer Support Group held a fund-raising event in Vaughall Street, Eden Park.

The sale of chicken, chips and soft drinks was well supported by the community of Eden Park. The sale’s success prompted the group to have a fund-raising event on a monthly basis.

“We are grateful to the community of Eden Park for their support. We do need funds to sustain the group and that is why we took it upon ourselves to try and sell food. Everything went well. We thank all the people who supported us,” said chairlady, Macky Koopman.

Eden Eagle Cancer Support Group consists of cancer survivors and sufferers who are still undergoing treatment. The group cares for and supports each member and urges the community to report family members who require support, help or care.
