Indoor market in aid of Hospice

It was a wonderful and fun occasion and a good excuse for a Saturday morning family outing.

An indoor market was held at Meyersdal Action Sports centre on October 7 as a fund-raiser in aid of Stepping Stone Hospice. Plenty of stalls sold plenty of different stuff.

PARENT SUPPORT GROUP: John Welman tended the stall for Tough Love Family Support Group. Dealing with a troubled teen? Suspecting drug abuse? Tough Love can help your family.

There was a generous number of food stalls selling varieties of food dishes, desserts and snacks. There were popcorn machines, brewed coffee, slushies, burgers, pancakes, vetkoek, hotdogs, fried chicken, curry, candy, chocolates, ice cream, candyfloss, koeksisters … the list goes on. It can safely be said that no one left hungry.

MADE WITH LOVE: There were lovely handmade allsorts on sale, including these precious stuffed animals.

Second-hand items were also up for sale such as clothes, books, reconstructed jewellery pieces and redesigned bottles and containers. It was a mecca for anyone who had a love for art, creativity and quaintness.

Handmade goods were proudly on display at fair prices, such as handmade toys and stuffed animals, bed linen, jewellery and hair accessories, bags and satchels, jerseys and clothing accessories, ornaments and paintings. This occasion was the perfect solution for anyone who needed to buy someone a sentimental birthday gift or something nice for the house.

BOWS GALORE: Tammy Staub-Verhoef established Bows Galore which sells cute, handmade bows for little girls. It is her second time at a market.

An event like this, which hires out stalls to community members and/or potential business owners, creates wonderful opportunities for not only those seeking a bargain-buy but also those tending the stall with a hope of becoming full-time entrepreneurs.

Tammy Staub tended a stall where she sold hand-made bows for little girls. She already has a business, Bows Galore, which she is trying to get off the ground with the help of events such as this indoor market.

BARGAIN BUYS: Second-hand clothes were on sale for the hipster at heart looking for a bargain buy.

Another example of an aspiring entrepreneur who tended a stall was Selina Tshabalala. She calls herself an entrepreneur from Alberton with a business called “Yours In Healthy Eating”. At her stall, you could buy healthy and delicious dishes, snacks and juices. Homemade muesli, yoghurt, fruit-infused water and blended juices were only a few delicious and nutritious options on her menu.

HAPPY SHOPPERS: The indoor market in aid of Stepping Stone Hospice saw a lot of happy shoppers.

In conclusion, this indoor market was a wonderful and fun occasion and a good excuse for a Saturday morning family outing and the best part – it was all in aid of Stepping Stone Hospice.

“We thank everyone who supported this event and we look forward to hosting another in the future,” said Kerry Johnston on behalf of Stepping Stone.

CUTE ITEMS: There were all kinds of cute items for sale at the indoor market. It was hard to decide what was the cutest!
