Crime giving SAPS grey hair

Eden Park SAPS' Capt Vusi Mhlophe says he is worried when he looks at the statistics on his desk.

EVERY citizen in South Africa is worried about the high crime rate which keeps on escalating.

Top officials of Eden park SAPS are putting heads together to find a solution in fighting crime in Eden Park and Greenfield.

Capt Vusi Mhlophe told the RECORD that he is worried when he looks at the statistics on his desk.

“I am very concerned about the high crime rate in our area, especially the business and residence burglaries which now occur on a daily basis. Just from July to September we had 47 cases of burglary.

“Just in three months, July to September between Eden Park and Greenfield, we have eight rapes, 11 murders, 53 burglaries, 15 thefts from vehicles, 29 general thefts and 28 malicious damage to property cases. These are horrifying figures and need to be addressed and we cannot do it alone.

“We urge the community to help the police in their mammoth task to overcome the enemy (crime). We are going to utilise every officer of our unit. Together we can defeat the enemy and come out victorious,” said Mhlophe.
