“The universe applause actions, not thoughts,” says Anika
Therapist shares her story and her passion for her work.
EVER thought of training your brain or even knew that you could do just that?
Anika Bosch (22) is a young therapist who is passionate about her work and life. She has been living in Alberton for more than five years and the RECORD visited her recently to find out more about her job.

1. What’s a day in your life like?
“I get up in the morning with a positive mindset that today is going to be a wonderful day where I go to work and join my wonderful team so that we can make a difference in people’s life. After my work is done, I go home to carry on with home-work because as we all know a woman’s work is never done.”
2. When did you become a brain/skin renewal therapist?
“I started at the Renewal Institute in 2015 when we started Brain Renewal which was shortly followed by Sleep Renewal. Our company has five divisions – skin, body, health, brain and sleep renewal.”
3. What attracted you to this career?
“I started my studies in Psychology and realised that not only do I want to help people through listening to them but also through training their brains to function better in their daily lives. With brain training and Neurofeedback we can help anyone between the ages from five to 70 with memory, functioning, data processing, sleepiness, ADHA, fogginess and the list goes on.”
4. Describe your work?
“In Brain Renewal we do brain training and we use Neurofeedback with it as the reward for the brain when training it well. Firstly we start with a brain map to see how the brain is functioning and then we analyse the data and give you a report. The report will explain exactly what we can see – even tracking trauma from childhood. Then we work out a programme according to your brain map and then we start our brain training – you will feel a difference after eight hours of training.
In sleep renewal we have home-based sleep studies as well as in-house sleep studies.

Home-based is when you come into your closest branch and we set you up with our small device and you can go home and sleep in the comfort of your own home. The next morning you can just bring the device back and we will download the data, analyse a report and help you with treatment or supplements. We have medical doctors in our company.
In-house is when you come to our sleep clinic – very much like a five-star hotel room where you can relax, receive dinner and breakfast and our sleep technician will look after you for the night.”
5. What are your activities and what do they involve?
“I’m head of brain and sleep renewal so I make sure things work according to plan, as I also do the sleep studies myself as well as the brain mapping and training.”
6. What was your worst day in your career? Please explain.
“I’ve never experienced a worst day in my career. I’m not saying that there is never a busy or dull day but so is any other job. Whenever I experience a bad day, I’ll just think of positive things to change my mind set.”
7. What do you like the most about your job?
“I like to meet new people – I’m a people’s person. I like to know when they come to see me that I will have an impact on helping them to change their lives in a positive way. If you love what you do you won’t have to work a day in your life.”

8. Does anyone in your life play a role in supporting your involvement? In providing inspiration?
“Our GM – Dr Marissa Stadler. She made me believe that there is more in every person. She never dangled my age in front of me. She took the leashes off and made me run with what I’m good at. Through this I’ve developed as a person and more on my skills so now I can do more in different divisions in our company.”
9. Of what contribution or achievement are you most proud?
I’m most proud of our sleep clinic that is opening on December 1. We’ve been working on this clinic for almost two years just to provide the best service out there. We’ve done our research and we have put more work in the negatives coming from the public to improve on the lack that the other sleep clinics out there has.”
10. You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
“I’m green as green represents durability, reliability, environmental, luxurious, optimism, well-being, nature, calm, relaxation, Spring, safety, honesty, optimism, harmony, freshness”
11. What were you like in high school and where did you matriculate?
“I was all outgoing, part of every group. I never really liked to be friends with just one specific group. I always tried to participate in everything and just enjoy life as it is. I matriculated in the best of the best far in the countryside at Hoërskool Hoogenhout, where most of my roots come from.”

12. What/who inspires you and why?
“I am inspired by time – every minute of your time is either spent helping or hurting your chance for the victory you are seeking in your life. Each minute can be an investment. Time is the one thing we all have in common, but it is also the one thing that we all use differently.”
13. What do you work toward in your free time?
“Self-development is always a good thing to work towards in life.”
14. Where and when were you born?
“I was born in Trichardt, Mpumalanga in 1995.”
15. Do you have any siblings?
“Yes, I’m the eldest of six siblings. We are four sisters and two brothers.”
16. Are you married?
“I am not married, but engaged to my high school sweetheart Christiaan Potgieter.”
17. Do you have a message to share?
“The universe applause actions, not thoughts! You need to do things in life if you want something. Stop thinking about it and take the action. You will be surprised if you just start believing in yourself.”
18. What is your biggest strength?
“I’m very organised and therefore things will happen and they run smoothly!”
