Man gives gift of life for 300th time
"People are in desperate need of blood, especially at this time of the year with all the carnage on our roads and crime levels escalating."
A MAN from Dinwiddie recently gave blood for the 300th time in his life.
On December 16, Tony Purnell (65) made his way to the SANBS (South African National Blood Service) at Alberton City to reach this impressive milestone.
“I started donating around 1975 already and will continue donating for as long as I can,” said Purnell.
“People are in desperate need of blood, especially at this time of the year with all the carnage on our roads and crime levels escalating,” he added.
Purneol got treated to a bottle of champagne to celebrate this momentous occasion.
“The people who work here should get the praise. They give up a lot of their time to do this work to save people’s lives,” said the modest man.
“I would like to encourage everyone to please donate blood and platelets because the blood bank is in desperate need of these donations,” concluded Purnell.
