‘A waste of money’, says resident

RESIDENTS in Alberton North are up in arms about the island which was built on 7th Avenue.

A resident, who wishes to stay anonymous, said that it is a waste of money.

“Why did they do this; blocking all traffic. People that stay at the top Avenue can’t get to their houses and Elandshaven are cut off too,” said the resident.

The resident further stated that it is a useless exercise since motorist driving up in 7th Avenue just ignore the island and drive against oncoming traffic from the top on the wrong side of the road to get where they want to be.
