Literacy classes at library

Parents are encourage to send their children to these classes, where they will benefit from reading and writing lessons.

A FINAL-YEAR child psychology student, Leodine Hutchinsen, has started a literacy life class at the Eden Park Library for learners from Grade Four to Grade Seven.

Classes are on Wednesdays and Thursdays when she is not attending lectures. The classes started at the end of January and are from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

“At present the class consists of 30 learners who come for after-school reading and writing lessons,” said Leodine. “I would like to encourage parents in Eden Park to send their children, who can only benefit from these classes.

“We are presently using a classroom at the local library, but as the number of learners grows we might require a bigger space. A special request would go out to local businesses to help us with stationery for our less privileged learners,” Leodine added. More information about this request will be published in a following edition.
