Senior citizens back in the mix

The Eden Park Senior Citizens' Club invites senior citizens to join their weekly meetings.

The Eden Park Senior Citizens’ Club at the community hall is back in action and members are already busy with their usual activities.

The club had to close down for almost 18 months when the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality decided to renovate the community hall. The club members had no venue to use and had to close doors.

The unfortunate thing is that during almost two years of non-activity some of the members died and some are now too old and sick and confined to their beds.

But the active members are now inviting all the senior citizens sitting at home to come and join them and enjoy life with them.

“We know that there are many senior citizens sitting at home being irritated by grandchildren. The community must bring the old folk to join us. We have a lot of activities like knitting, doily making, sewing, exercise and reading. We have conversations and are visited by a foot doctor. We urge the old folk to join us. For the four meals we serve for the month each member contributes a mere R30 for the month. Please my ladies, don’t just sit there at home. Come and enjoy every Tuesday between 10am and 2pm,” said chairperson Sally Linden.
