A wall away from home

Speeding really does do damage

FANIE van der Berg, a resident of a home on the corner of Braun and Vermeulen roads Florentia, heard a noise on Sunday morning November 10 around 04:20. Unaware of what caused the noise or where it came from, Fanie was greeted by the garden worker who informed him what had just happened… a vehicle had crashed into the outside wall of the property.

Fanie called the residents of the main house and informed them of the situation. Sean Castelyn, who was away for the weekend, immediately returned home.

Sean found out from a neighbour that a vehicle was seen and the driver, attempting to start the car, had battled to do so. Also, the front grill of the vehicle was no longer attached to it. The neighbour described the incident as ‘suspicious’.

The residents of Florentia kept the grill, which may have come from a white caddy bakkie.

“What is now left of the outside wall is an open space for anyone to enter into my property and this could cause more problems,” said Sean.
