Join the 500-Club in aid of Hospice

He hopes another 199 generous community members will join this initiative.

ALDERMAN Izak Berg recently started the 500-Club, where he promises to donate R500 to Stepping Stone Hospice every month for as long as he and/or Hospice will exist. He hopes another 199 generous community members will join this initiative.

“I’ve lost my mother to cancer in 2001, so I know that someone who is at the end of their road needs all the love, care and attention that they can get so that their end is as comfortable and dignified as possible,” explained Izak.

“This is what Stepping Stone offers to so many cancer sufferers. What they do is amazing and it’s not any person who can do it,” said Izak.

“The staff does not deserve to worry about where their salary will come from because the work they do is absolutely selfless and wonderful.”

So, he came up with the idea of the 500-Club about two months ago. Izak says that if 200 people can commit to giving Hospice R500 per month, it should at least cover the staff’s salaries. So far, there are four other people/businesses who have joined the 500-Club.

Izak feels so passionate about Hospice’s cause, he also gave a R10 000 once-off donation to them. He is a true believer in the phrase “you reap what you sow” and said that, instead of just talking about how bad we feel for cancer sufferers and that we wish we could help make a difference, we must act to help relieve the problem.

If you’d like to join the 500-Club and donate R500 to Hospice every month, or for any queries regarding the 500-Club, be sure to give Izak a call on 082 674 5317 or send an email to idberg@telkomsa.net
