Join the Alberton H.E.L.P. Forum

H.E.L.P. aims to effectively help empower the less privileged through teamwork.

IT’S been decided that all the non-profit organisations in Alberton in aid of the less privileged, should work together to make a more significant difference. So, Tammy du Plooy decided to start the Alberton H.E.L.P. Forum.

This forum was established last year. Tammy explains why she got this idea: “There are many organisations in Alberton that assist and give donations to the same people without engaging with any of the other role players. This often leads to overlapping or gaps in the overall assistance being provided to the less privileged.”

The mission of this forum is to bring these organisations together to foster a culture of co-operation and collaboration between them. Working together and sharing ideas, efforts, as well as knowledge, will enable all these organisations to be more effective in helping to empower the less privileged.

H.E.L.P Forum gets together once a month where these organisations’ representatives discuss their ideas and initiatives with each other. In this way, everyone can decide on the best ways to achieve the vision of H.E.L.P.

“The EMM has recently established a vagrancy stakeholders’ committee that is being overseen by the Department of Health and Social Development,” said Tammy.

“H.E.L.P is working with them to address challenges of vagrants within the community. A number of other areas in Ekurhuleni are also setting up their own H.E.L.P Forums to address the issues of vagrancy and under-privileged folk in their areas.”

If you are interested in joining or assisting the H.E.L.P. Forum, please contact Tammy on 082 371 7053 for more information.
