Alrode Industrial Football Association

Employees started numerous teams who take part in a football league ... improving their work.

ALRODE – AIFA crowned their Wespico Champions for the 2013 league season walking away with a floating trophy, 25 gold medals and R9 200.

The association operates from the Rheem premises in Alrode and was formed to create a conductive environment for different industries to have a good working relationship with their employees through sport.

They believe that their employees can have a healthy lifestyle through sport which will contribute to them being more productive at work.

Under the current leadership, which has been re-elected consecutively by the team’s representatives who form the association council, they have been operating for five years. Leaderships have also done an outstanding job of administering the league matters which has led the league to attract more company teams to join.

In 2009 there were nine teams and currently there are 18 teams taking part. Now that the league season is over, they will focus on their annual knockout competition which started on November 15. The final is scheduled for December 6.

Games are played every Friday afternoon at 16:00 in 11 soccer fields in Alrode, Tokoza, Katlehong, Kliprivier and City Deep. Registration for 2014 has also opened and registration fees are R3 400.
