An afternoon with animals

Spend a day with your animal

DOG owners and supporters of the SPCA are invited to take part in the “Sunset Adventure Dog Walk” taking place at the Boksburg City Stadium in Jubilee Road on Saturday November 30. This event is in aid of the SPCAs on the East Rand and the hope is to raise much needed funds, as well as collect blankets, leads and collars and food for animals in need.

“The event promises to be a lovely evening out with the family and dog,” said an SPCA representative. “The event will start at 16:45, then you can buy a boerewors roll and salads and something to drink. There will also be doggy bags on sale, so your walking companion will not be drooling while you enjoy your supper. We will be catering for vegetarians as well. So bring your picnic blanket, chairs and gazebos and come and enjoy the Sunset Adventure Dog Walk and Picnic with us. Supporters are encouraged to be at the venue from 16:00.”

There are two courses of different lengths, and activities to ensure that

dogs large and small can participate and have a fun time.

The longer course will require old clothes to be worn by the person walking the dog as the format will be an adventure in the form of an interesting, yet fun obstacle course. In between, over and under obstacles is not compulsory, so just come out and enjoy the afternoon.

The “Sunset Adventure Dog Walk” is also an opportunity for the SPCAs to engage with the community, get feedback as well as remind the community of the work that they do for animals in need.

If you don’t have a dog, come along anyway, you can support the event by paying your entry fee and walking the route.

Fees are:

R30 per person and R10 per dog.

All participants go into the draw for a MYSTERY prize – which will be revealed at a later stage.

Cash Prize for the club or organization that has the most members with dogs in attendance.

The organizers require the following to be adhered to please:

· All dogs’ vaccinations to be up to date

· All dogs to be on a lead

· No puppies under three months

“We hope to have you join us for an “adventure” filled evening walking your dog in support of the SPCA.”
