Angels of Hope reaches out to the needy
Angels visits Christway at least twice a week to help feed the hungry people, of whom 150 are children.
ANGELS of Hope, a charity initiative founded by Christella George and her late 13-year-old daughter, Savvanna, in 2016, has decided to support the Christway Religious and Social Services Community Centre in Turffontein this year.
Angels of Hope entails a non-profit initiative that adopts a different cause every year. Last year, it adopted an underprivileged primary school in a township close to our community and provided it with plenty of much-needed donations.
This year, Angels of Hope adopted the Christway Religious and Social Services Community Centre in Turffontein. This centre provides a warm meal to at least 450 people every day, especially to the needy children in the area. It also holds church services every Sunday, looks after children who have nowhere else to go during the day and helps the needy however possible.

Christway was founded by Elize Baker about 20 years ago and every year more and more impoverished people arrive on its doorstep asking for food for them and their children.
Elize has a soft heart and finds it impossible to turn away anyone in need. Just a few houses down the road from Christway is her own house, where she lives with 15 children she has taken in.
Christella described Elize as “a woman of gold” and said that this is but one reason why she visits Christway at least twice a week to help feed the hungry people, of whom 150 are children. She also asked for a list of the children’s needs and is going to great lengths to gather donations to make up winter hampers for all of them.

“These people have lost all hope,” said Christella and Elize in agreement. “They need to be uplifted so that they can get that needed vooma to better themselves and their children’s circumstances.”
Both charities are in need of donations, especially food, winter clothing and items for babies rather than monetary donations.
