THE CHX hip-hop dance crew will be jetting off to Phoenix, Arizona, on August 5 to compete in the Hip Hop International (HHI) World Dance Championships.
Six proudly South African dancers from Alberton, coached by Wesley Grainger, competed in the HHI South African Dance Championships and made it through to the finals after a number of rounds where they qualified.
HHI World Championship is the world’s largest and most respected street hip-hop dance event. Over 3 000 of the world’s best dancers will visit Phoenix where dance crews from over 50 nations will go head to head to capture the world title.
In Phoenix, they will have the opportunity not only to compete against the world’s finest but also to attend dance workshops hosted by world-renowned dancers and choreographers like Sorah Yang, Scott Forsyth, Melvin Timtim, Popin’ Pete, ReQuest Dance Crew and Matt Steffanina. The costs are high, but so are their spirits, enthusiasm and belief that the CHX crew will get the opportunity of a lifetime. They will need all the help they can get, due to high travelling and accommodation costs. Any assistance the team can get in the form of donations or sponsorships will help these dancers make their dreams become a reality.
They are extremely honoured and excited to do SA and the South of Johannesburg proud at this prestigious event.
A fund-raising colour run and fun day took place in June to help raise funds for the dancers.
Contact Wesley Grainger on 082 762 4768 if you wish to assist these dedicated and passionate dancers.
