Three accidents in one day

ALBERTON – On the corner of Pieter Uys and Van Rensburg street Alberton North November 15, a car accident with an Audi A8 3.0 and a Toyota Yaris 2012 had occurred.

Chris Pieterson says, ”The stop sign was facing away from the cars.

Daughter of Chris, Nadine Theron was driving, coming down from Pieter Uys street and being un familiar with the road (with no stop sign indicating her to stop) she continued to move forward.

Marleen Maunye was driving up from Van Rensburg street, also no visible sign indicating her to stop and continued to drive. As soon as she moved forward with her vehicle the Audi crashed right into the left side of her Yaris.

Marleen’s friend, Miss Nthako (passenger) was injured on her stomach region, neck and legs. Nadine had reported injuries of a possible broken shoulder and arm.

Another community member says: “The no line indicating the drivers to stop and no visible stop sign has been like that for years.”

Further accidents include Braun and Le Roux, Verwoed Park with a bakkie and golf which collided head on. Both drivers sustained no injuries. A 58-year-old female from the bakkie was transported to hospital by ER24 with moderate injuries. The collisions will have been investigated by the necessary authorities.

On Friday morning November 15, 08:05 a call was received about a multi-vehicle collision involving a truck and four cars on the N12 East before the Voortrekker off-ramp, Alberton.

Witnesses stated the truck travelling behind the cars could not break in time and collided with the vehicles. EMPD was not yet on the scene when some vehicle occupants were taken to hospital. ER24 transported one female patient with minor injuries to Union hospital.

  1. I think Sanral and the government should focus on the maintenance of our roads,traffic lines and posts and not focus on this money making scheme called E Toll which is only going to drive our country into a higher bracket of poverty.
