Workers get eye screenings in Alberton
Eye Care Awareness Month from September to October.
EYE care is as important as any other safety precaution when it comes to working in a factory.
With workplace environmental factors that include dust, chemical exposure, lighting and microclimate, it is vital for workers to be equipped with the correct eyewear.

In celebration of Eye Care Awareness Month, that is taking place from September 23 to October 18, Zelda van Coller Optometrists sponsored 40 eye screenings for rubber liners working at Pharm Garay Africa. They are also assisting with further testing to those who need spectacles or additional eye care in collaboration with the factory in Alberton.
Eye Care Awareness Month is an initiative to raise awareness about the importance of eye health, specifically around the prevention and treatment of avoidable blindness. To prevent vision reduction and eye health disorders is key to our everyday services, said Zelda.

“It gives us great joy to educate our community on the importance of eye care. And we feel honoured to be able to help factory workers in the area to determine eye-related disorders in time as a result to save their vision,” said Zelda.
